Torture is immoral and illegal. Torture is always wrong, no matter who does it, or why. Torturing suspects yields unreliable information. Torture produces false confessions. Torture survivors suffer lasting trauma. A terrorist, police detective, intelligence officer, or soldier, who tortures a hostage or a person in custody a commits a crime that is morally indistinguishable from child abuse or rape. Torture survivors are entitled to redress, including due process under law and monetary damages. Torturers should be prosecuted. Denounce torture.
