The people of Chicago have brought law suits and have marched in the streets, expressing growing concerns about: * Excessive force, including deadly force, incidents - * Racial profiling - * Tasers and other so-called non-lethal-force weapons - * Police and correctional officer misconduct on the basis of anti-LGBT-bias * Special concerns of people with mental illness There is a new, growing movement for police accountability in Chicago - The Justice Coalition of Greater Chicago proposes a "12-Point Program for Enhanced Police Accountability" The coalition will pressure the Chicago City Council to pass a new ordinance that will cut through the red tape citizens face when making complaints, and eliminate the bias in favor of the accused officer.
